A massive fire broke out in a forest area in Kasauli, prompting the Indian Air Force to deploy its choppers to douse the flames. The fire engulfed a significant portion of the forest, prompting a multi-agency response from the forest department and fire tenders.
However, the teams were unable to put out the fire, prompting the IAF to deploy its Mil Mi-17 and Chinook helicopters to tackle the blaze, especially in inaccessible areas of the forest. Water was also lifted from Chandigarh's Sukhna Lake to aid in the firefighting efforts.
Meanwhile, a separate forest fire was reported in Rajhana village near Shimla, with teams from the forest and fire departments rushing to put out the blaze. Officials believe the rise in temperatures over the past few days may be the cause behind the forest fires.
