A private cricket tournament in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, has taken a sensitive turn. On Thursday, cricketer Furqan Ul Haq, a resident of Pulwama, displayed the Palestinian flag on his helmet during a match in the Jammu and Kashmir Champions League. The incident has sparked a probe by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, who have initiated a 14-day preliminary investigation to determine the cricketer's intentions and explore any potential links. The tournament, which started on December 29, has been marred by controversy. The organizers of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association have distanced themselves from the event, calling it a private affair not recognized by the association. This is the second cricket league in the union territory to face controversy. In November, the Indian Heaven Premier League (IHPL) collapsed after its organizers allegedly duped players, officials, and hoteliers, leaving around 60 cricketers stranded. The IHPL had featured international stars like Chris Gayle and Martin Guptill before folding after just 12 matches.
