Kaun Banega Crorepati Star Arrested in Flood Relief Scam

Amita Singh Tomar, a woman tehsildar who rose to fame after participating in the TV show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', has been arrested in connection with a flood relief scam in Sheopur district, India.

Tomar was accused of financial irregularity in the 2021 flood relief scam that happened in Baroda tehsil of Sheopur district.

She was produced before the court in Sheopur and subsequently lodged in a jail in neighbouring Shivpuri district.

The scam involved approximately ₹2.5 crore in relief funds being transferred into fraudulent bank accounts.

Tomar had approached the High Court and the Supreme Court seeking anticipatory bail, but her pleas were rejected.

She was one of 110 accused individuals identified in the investigation, including one tehsildar and 25 Patwaris. The tehsildar and 22 Patwaris have been arrested so far.
