Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has taken a swipe at Arvind Kejriwal after the AAP leader personally argued in court for Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma to recuse herself from the Delhi excise policy case.
Gupta quipped that Kejriwal has become a lawyer these days, while accusing him of disregarding democracy and questioning government agencies that speak against him.
Kejriwal had made submissions to the court on Monday, citing 'reasonable apprehension of not getting a fair hearing' and seeking Justice Sharma's recusal from hearing the case.
He also cast doubts on the judge's neutrality, citing her attendance at RSS-affiliated events and wondering if she sympathized with the ideology of the BJP and its parent body RSS.
However, Justice Sharma asked Kejriwal if she had made any ideological or political statements, to which he replied that her attendance at the events was enough to raise concerns.
The judge told Kejriwal that he had argued well and could become a lawyer, while also saying she had learnt a lot about recusal jurisprudence from his submissions.
