Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has hit back at his Telangana counterpart, A Revanth Reddy, over his 'dark era' remark. Vijayan listed Kerala's achievements in human development indicators and compared them with Telangana.

Vijayan said that Reddy had no right to comment on Kerala's social indicators, considering he recently bulldozed the homes of the poor in Telangana.

Vijayan put out several statistics to underline his point that Kerala fared much better than Telangana in several social and economic indicators. He said that Kerala is at number 1 in Niti-Aayog's Sustainable Development Index (2023-24), while Telangana is at number 6.

Vijayan also highlighted Kerala's low poverty rate of 0.55%, its high literacy rate of 95.3%, and its low infant mortality rate of 5 per 1,000 live births.

He accused Reddy of political hypocrisy and said that Kerala has nothing to learn from the chief minister of a state where salaries and pensions are not being paid on time.

Vijayan invited Reddy to visit Kerala and study its welfare public models.
