The Kerala government spent ₹11.21 lakh on producing an interview of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan by actor Mohanlal, which was telecast on all major channels last month, according to a Right to Information (RTI) query.

The RTI response clarified that government funds were sanctioned for the interview, but no government systems were utilized for its production.

Leader of the opposition V D Satheesan criticized the use of taxpayer funds for the CM's political campaign, stating that it was evidence of how taxpayer money was being misused politically by the LDF government.

Satheesan demanded that the CM return the money to the treasury, citing thousands of crores spent by the LDF government in the last six months for its election campaign.
