South Korean President Lee Jae-myung is in New Delhi for a three-day visit, where he will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Shipbuilding and artificial intelligence are high on the agenda for talks.
The visit comes amidst ongoing supply chain instability and a global economic crisis. The Republic of Korea and India are emerging as strategic partners, with talks to include discussions on shipbuilding, trade, investments, AI, semiconductors, and critical technologies.
Lee and Modi will also discuss cooperation for peace on the Korean Peninsula and within the region. The visit marks an important milestone in advancing the India-South Korea Special Strategic Partnership.
During the visit, Lee and his wife paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, laying a wreath at the memorial. The South Korean leader was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan forecourt, marking a significant start to the second day of his state visit.
Bilateral trade has grown from $14.2 billion to $26.89 billion in 2024-25, an increase of nearly 90 percent.
