A loco pilot in India's Lucknow Rail Division was left with no choice but to undress himself in front of a senior officer after being denied sick leave for rest following piles surgery, a union claimed.
The incident was recorded by the loco pilot's colleagues and widely circulated on WhatsApp groups, sparking outrage among railway employees.
According to the All India Loco Running Staff Association (AILRSA), the loco pilot, Rajesh Meena, was refused leave for rest by Chief Crew Controller (CCC) Ratan Kumar despite showing medical documents and unhealed wounds.
Meena eventually approached a union leader, who spoke to senior officers, and was granted leave for rest.
The union has demanded strict action against CCC Ratan Kumar, describing the treatment as 'inhuman'. The incident has sparked outrage among railway employees, who work tirelessly to transport people to their destinations.
