Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will investigate allegations of misogyny and verbal abuse made by Trinamool Congress MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar against her party colleague Kalyan Banerjee.

The Speaker will decide whether to refer the issue to the Lok Sabha's privileges panel after reviewing a letter from Dastidar, which claims Banerjee has repeatedly abused her inside the Lok Sabha chamber.

Banerjee has denied the allegations, stating that Dastidar should have reported the incident immediately to the Speaker.

The Lok Sabha secretary general's office is currently reviewing the file on Dastidar's letter, and the Speaker is expected to take action once he returns to Delhi.
