On February 22, a meeting between Manipur's Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh and his two deputies, Losii Dikho and Nemcha Kipgen, took place in New Delhi, marking a significant step towards normalcy in the strife-torn state. However, Kipgen, a Kuki-Zo, has yet to establish an office in the state capital, Imphal, due to ethnic divisions.
Kipgen has been attending official meetings from the deputy commissioner's office in Kangpokpi and her house, with the district administration arranging video conferencing facilities. She has been meeting the CM and cabinet colleagues over VC almost every day.
CM Singh has also yet to visit the hills dominated by the Kuki-Zos, with officials citing security concerns. Deputy CM Dikho, a Naga, has managed to visit both Imphal and Churachandpur, but the next two weeks are crucial for the state as the Manipur assembly session begins on Monday.
