Two protesters were killed in Manipur after security forces allegedly fired at a group of people protesting the killing of a five-year-old boy and his six-month-old sister.

The Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum refuted allegations that the Kuki-Zo were involved in the attack.

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand condemned the attack and assured that the government would hunt down the perpetrators and deliver justice.

The ethnic violence in Manipur has claimed at least 260 lives and displaced around 60,000 people since May 2023.
