Sejal Pawar, a medical student at Mumbai's KEM hospital, has been sent on a 15-day forced leave following a probe into her remarks on 'male corpses' made during a stand-up comedy show. The hospital has constituted a five-member committee to take a final decision within a week.
The hospital management stated that the decision was taken due to the sensitivity of the matter and the need to uphold the dignity of deceased persons, body donors, and professional standards expected from medical students.
Pawar had made the remarks during a show recorded three months ago, which have been widely criticized. She has already tendered an unconditional apology for her comments.
The Maharashtra cyber police have booked Pawar, along with two others, over the remarks, while the National Commission for Women has summoned one of the individuals for glorifying non-consensual conduct towards a woman.
