Lionel Messi's highly-anticipated visit to Kolkata's Salt Lake Stadium on December 13 turned chaotic, with the football icon leaving the event early amidst a frenzy of fans and VIPs. The main organiser, Satadru Dutta, faced questioning by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the incident. According to sources, Dutta revealed that Messi was uncomfortable with being touched or hugged by the crowd during the event. This concern had been previously communicated by Messi's foreign security team. The SIT investigation is also looking into how a large number of people gained access to the stadium area, despite repeated public announcements to maintain order. The event, which lasted only 22 minutes, ended in chaos as politicians, police, and other VIPs surrounded Messi and his teammates. Enraged fans, who had paid high prices for tickets, vandalised parts of the stadium. The West Bengal government has set up a SIT team to investigate the incident.
