Union culture and tourism minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is now the country's “biggest brand ambassador”, replacing Mahatma Gandhi as India's global identity.
Shekhawat claimed that till 10-15 years ago, visitors abroad would only associate India with Gandhi, but now they recognize Modi.
The minister expressed confidence that foreign tourist arrivals in India will grow from 10 crore to 100 crore by 2047, a target set by PM Modi for India to become a developed country.
Shekhawat also spoke about India's cultural plurality, saying that the Indian civilisation is an "amalgamation" of different faiths.
