Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address three rallies in poll-bound West Bengal on Saturday, while the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) has launched sharp criticism of the BJP’s recently released election manifesto.
The BJP’s plan to introduce the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Bengal has been criticized by the TMC, with party MP Abhishek Banerjee saying it would weaken India’s diversity.
West Bengal election 2026 will be held in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 4.
Other states including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Assam, and Puducherry have also gone to polls, with results to be declared on May 4.
