Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) of taking alleged secessionist supporters from the streets to Parliament during a campaign rally in poll-bound West Bengal's Siliguri.
Modi called the Siliguri corridor crucial to India's security and said the TMC wants to appease its vote bank.
He claimed the TMC is engaged in appeasement and has been inadequate in allocating funds for North Bengal during its 15 years in power.
Modi also questioned whether the TMC can provide a full account of its development projects and accused its ruffians of looting funds sent for social welfare projects.
He pledged to ensure legal protection for women, including depositing ₹3,000 into every woman's bank account without asking for commission.
Modi's comments came as he campaigned for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal, where the party is seeking to oust the TMC in the upcoming elections.
