A 35-year-old Indian Navy employee has been arrested for allegedly murdering a 31-year-old woman, dismembering her body, and storing parts in a refrigerator at his apartment in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

The accused, Chintada Ravindra, had been in an extra-marital affair with the victim, Polipalli Mounika, a bank employee, since 2021.

According to police, the two had a heated argument on Sunday, after which Ravindra allegedly murdered Mounika by covering her nose and mouth.

Ravindra then dismembered the body, hid some parts in the refrigerator, and burnt the head and hands in a deserted area to destroy evidence.

He eventually surrendered to the police on Monday morning, and a case has been registered under sections 103(1) and 238(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
