Confusion surrounds the proposed merger between rebel Trinamool Congress MPs and the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI), with some NCPI leaders claiming they have not received any communication from the lawmakers.
NCPI leaders said they were still in the dark about the merger negotiations and the appointment of Jyotiprakash Chatterjee as the new president.
TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, leading the rebel faction, announced Chatterjee as the new president, but NCPI leaders disputed this, saying they had not been informed.
The NCPI has announced the merger decision on its Facebook page, claiming it is now the 'largest parliamentary force from West Bengal' with 20 MPs.
However, NCPI leaders said they were still unclear about the merger and the appointment of Chatterjee, with one leader saying they did not even know who Chatterjee was.
