One of the two Rajya Sabha seats in Jharkhand was won by an Independent backed by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), while the other went to a Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate, despite cross-voting reports.
According to sources, Parimal Nathwani, the independent candidate backed by the NDA, polled 28 votes, while JMM candidate Baidyanath Ram received 30 votes in the election.
Congress state in-charge K Raju alleged that money was used by the independent candidate to sway the results in his favour.
Three votes, two from the BJP and one from the Congress, were found invalid, according to PTI.
The election results were marred by cross-voting, with several Jharkhand leaders reacting to the news.
