A NEET aspirant was arrested in Varanasi after a SIM card, an old question paper, and adhesive material were allegedly recovered from his undergarments during pre-examination frisking.
The candidate, identified as Prince Dubey, was taken into custody and is currently undergoing preliminary interrogation.
Meanwhile, over 20 lakh medical aspirants appeared for the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination on Sunday, which was conducted across 5,440 centres in India and 14 centres abroad.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) said a whole-of-government approach enabled the agency to conduct the massive exercise in record time despite criticism following the paper leak controversy.
