Balendra Shah, a 35-year-old senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, is poised to become Nepal's youngest prime minister on Friday.

Shah, popularly known as 'Balen,' will be sworn-in as a member of the House of Representatives on Thursday, followed by his oath as prime minister by President Ramchandra Paudel on Friday.

The RSP secured 182 seats in the HoR, making it eligible to form a majority government under Article 76 (1) of the Constitution.

Balen, who defeated four-time prime minister K P Sharma Oli in the March 5 general election, is likely to form a small cabinet with 15-18 members.
