Nepal's Prime Minister Balendra Shah has stated that the government will engage with the UK and China to resolve the border dispute over the Lipulekh Pass. Shah emphasized that the issue dates back to the period when British India left the region.

The Lipulekh Pass has been a long-standing point of contention between India and Nepal, with the row escalating in 2020 after Nepal issued a political map showing Limpiyadhura, Kalapani, and Lipulekh as part of its territory.

India has rejected Nepal's claims, stating that the border disputes must be resolved through diplomatic dialogue. The Lipulekh Pass is a key route for the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage and an important strategic trade route for India and China.

Nepal has objected to the resumption of trade through this route and staked its territorial claim over the pass. The dispute has been ongoing since 2020, with both countries maintaining their positions.
