A newly married woman, Pragya Singh, went missing from the Nanda Devi Express around midnight, sparking a frantic six-day search that led investigators to Bihar.
Pragya, who had been travelling with her husband, Manish, after completing the Kedarnath pilgrimage, was finally traced safe after six days.
According to investigators, the couple had an argument during the journey, and Pragya quietly stepped off the train and boarded another one without a ticket.
She travelled hundreds of kilometres to Begusarai in Bihar, where she contacted her mother and informed her that she was safe.
Police later traced her location and informed her relatives before bringing her back.
