Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar arrived in Delhi on Thursday and will take oath as a Rajya Sabha MP on Friday, paving the way for the formation of a new government in Bihar. Kumar is expected to return to Patna that evening and resign as Chief Minister soon after, allowing for the naming of his successor and the formation of the new government, both of which are expected on April 14 or 15.

Kumar is likely to be allotted a high-security Type-8 government bungalow in Lutyens' Delhi, with renovation work already underway at three houses in the Sunehri Bagh area. The new government in Bihar is expected to be formed after the end of Khadmas, a spell of days considered inauspicious, on April 13.

The new government is expected to have new faces, including Nitish Kumar's son Nishant Kumar, and will run on the Nitish model of development with justice. Kumar's popularity has grown over the years, and his legacy is seen as a strength and inspiration for the NDA.
