Uttar Pradesh's DGP Rajeev Krishna has vowed to take strict action against those who instigated violence during worker protests in Noida, which turned violent on Monday.

Vehicles were torched, property vandalised, and stone pelting was reported from Phase 2 and Sector 60 areas as protests demanding a wage hike turned ugly.

The protests paralysed traffic, leaving thousands of commuters stranded on roads leading to Delhi during the morning rush hour.

Police have made adequate deployments across industrial zones and senior officials are present on the ground to maintain law and order.

The authorities claim the situation is under control and under continuous surveillance, appealing to the public not to pay heed to rumours.
