A mob in Odisha's Cuttack district dragged a man out of his house, lynched him on suspicion of black magic, and then burnt his body to erase evidence. The incident occurred on May 10, but 25 people were arrested a day after the victim's father lodged a formal complaint with the police.
The victim, Tikima Behera, was staying with his brother and sister-in-law in Talamunduli village after his wife abandoned him seven years ago.
Cuttack (Rural) SP Vinit Agrawal said police have arrested 25 men of the village and recovered the partially burnt body and bones of the deceased. One of the accused confessed to the crime during interrogation.
