A disturbing video has surfaced online showing 18 Odisha wrestlers, bound for the 69th National School Wrestling Championship in Uttar Pradesh, forced to sit near a train toilet due to unconfirmed tickets. The athletes, who were meant to represent their state, were left with no choice but to occupy the cramped and unhygienic area outside the toilet compartment in the general coach. According to reports, seats were reserved for only four of the 18 athletes, leaving the rest to face harsh winter conditions in the general compartment. The area near the toilets is commonly used as a passageway between coaches, making it an unsuitable place for passengers. Responding to the incident, Odisha Education Minister Nityananda has assured that an inquiry will be conducted and appropriate action will be taken. Hari Prasad Pattanayak, general secretary of the Odisha State Karate Association, has also expressed concern over the incident, highlighting the need to improve the train ticketing system in India. A video clip of the incident shows the athletes huddled over their luggage, struggling to cope with the biting cold. Some are seen using their bags as makeshift seats, while others rest with their heads lowered in exhaustion. The incident has sparked outrage, with many calling for improvements in the train travel experience for athletes and passengers alike.
