Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla's removal was already on the agenda, but the opposition pushed for a notice to adjourn proceedings to discuss West Asia.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju accused the opposition of disrupting the House, saying they could approach the business advisory committee for a discussion.
The opposition refused to relent, leading Speaker Jagadambika Pal to adjourn the proceedings till 3 pm.
