New Delhi, Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned till 3 pm on Monday after noisy protests by opposition members demanding a debate on the situation in West Asia.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar made a statement on the crisis, but opposition members raised slogans and demanded a full discussion.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla's removal was already on the agenda, but the opposition pushed for a notice to adjourn proceedings to discuss West Asia.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju accused the opposition of disrupting the House, saying they could approach the business advisory committee for a discussion.

The opposition refused to relent, leading Speaker Jagadambika Pal to adjourn the proceedings till 3 pm.
