Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded India's emerging athletics stars for rewriting the record books at the 29th National Senior Athletics Federation Cup 2026 in Ranchi. The athletes broke four national records in different events, showcasing the country's growing sporting prowess.

Gurindervir Singh became the first Indian man to run the 100 metres in under 10.10 seconds, clocking 10.09 seconds in the final. Vishal TK broke the 45-second barrier in the men's 400 metres, setting a new national record of 44.98 seconds. Tejaswin Shankar scored 8,057 points in the decathlon, becoming the first Indian to cross the 8,000-point mark.

Kuldeep Kumar and Dev Meena jointly rewrote the national record in the men's pole vault competition, clearing 5.45 metres at the Birsa Munda Stadium in Ranchi. The Federation Cup witnessed participation from nearly 800 athletes and emerged as one of the most successful editions of the competition.
