Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a sporty morning in Sikkim's Gangtok on Tuesday as he participated in a game of football with children there. He shared snippets of the game on social media, showing him warming up, scoring a goal, and giving high-fives to the kids.
Before the game, Modi greeted the children, asked them what they would teach him, and even teased them about not beating him. After the session, he engaged with his co-players, saying that in games, practice is not enough, and matches bring out true passion.
Modi then signed the children's jerseys and posed for photographs. He captioned the video, 'A football morning in Gangtok! We learnt, we played, we celebrated and above everything else, we enjoyed the game….'
During his visit to Sikkim, PM Modi launched development projects worth over ₹4,000 and attended the closing ceremony of the state's 50 years of statehood celebrations. He criticized Congress, saying that the BJP government's development efforts could have been done earlier, but were pushed back.
Modi also said that his government was committed to the 'Act East' policy and was resolved to 'Act Fast' for the northeastern states.
