Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Australia in the near future, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong announced on Tuesday. The announcement was made during a press conference in New Delhi after the Quad foreign ministers' meeting.

The Quad grouping, comprising India, the United States, Japan, and Australia, discussed measures focused on critical technology, energy security, stronger supply chains, and humanitarian cooperation.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced that Modi would visit Australia in the near future, with Wong praising the relationship between the two countries and their shared commitment to a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.

Wong also highlighted India's importance as an economic partner for Australia, describing the two nations as comprehensive strategic partners with a relationship anchored in strategic trust.

The Quad foreign ministers also announced fresh measures related to maritime security, port infrastructure, and energy cooperation to strengthen engagement in the Indo-Pacific region.
