Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cautioned citizens about the potential long-lasting impact of the US-Iran war in West Asia, urging them to be prepared for challenges ahead. Modi, while addressing the Rajya Sabha, noted that the war's impact on energy supply chains and inflation could have far-reaching consequences.
The government is working to manage the situation and safeguard public interest, with Modi assuring citizens that the nation's interest remains paramount. He also requested states to work together and face challenges proactively, particularly in protecting migrant workers and preventing black marketing.
Modi highlighted India's efforts to ensure the safety of its citizens, with over 3,75,000 Indians safely evacuated so far, including more than 1,000 from Iran. He urged all sides to seek a peaceful resolution, emphasizing the importance of humanity in times of crisis.
The Prime Minister also assured that India has adequate crude oil reserves and strong arrangements to ensure uninterrupted supply despite the ongoing conflict. He noted that the government is taking all necessary steps to maintain steady energy supplies, including sourcing oil and gas from multiple regions and diversifying energy imports.
