The Election Commission of India will declare the results for Puducherry's 30-seat legislative assembly today, May 4, 2026. The Union Territory recorded its highest-ever voter turnout at 89.87 per cent, with the NDA bloc led by Chief Minister N Rangasamy looking to retain power.
The NDA, comprising the All India NR Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party, and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, bagged 16 seats in the 2021 assembly polls and achieved a simple majority. However, the Congress-led Opposition is looking to wrest power in the UT, with key candidates including CM N Rangasamy, Congress's Vaithilinga, DMK's R Siva, and BJP leader A Namassivayam.
The Thattanchavady constituency is a key battleground, with AINRC supremo and chief minister N Rangasamy contesting against Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee president and Lok Sabha MP V Vaithilingam. The results will reveal the voters' sentiments and determine whether the NDA bloc can retain power or the Opposition gains a majority in Puducherry.
