Puducherry Polls Set for April 9, Results on May 4

The Election Commission announced that polls in Puducherry will take place on April 9 and the results will be announced on May 4. The term of the current government in Puducherry will end on June 15.

The full schedule of Puducherry polls 2026 is as follows: Date of issue of gazette notification - March 16, Last date for making nominations - March 23, Date for the scrutiny of nominations - March 24, Last date for the withdrawal of candidatures - March 26, Date of poll - April 9, Date of counting - May 4, Date before which election shall be completed - May 6.

Puducherry has a total of 9,44,539 voters, out of which 23,033 are young electors. The senior citizen voters, aged 85 and above, in Puducherry are 6,034 and PwD voters are 12,204.

The voting for 30 assembly constituencies in Puducherry will be held in 1,099 polling booths set up across the Union Territory. The polling in Puducherry will coincide with Kerala on April 9, both of which will be held in a single phase.

Puducherry's current chief minister is N Rangasamy, who has been in power since 2021. The Union Territory has a total of 33 seats, including three members nominated by the Centre.
