Punjab Group's Joyride Turns Tragic in Vrindavan, 10 Dead

At least 10 people from Ludhiana district in Punjab drowned in the Yamuna river in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, after one of two hired boats capsized.

The group of 30 people had hired the boats for a joyride, but the tragedy occurred when one of the boats collided with a pontoon bridge, causing it to lose balance and overturn.

Most of the victims belonged to Jagraon town in Ludhiana, and 16 people were rescued, with two or three requiring oxygen supply.

Rescue operations are underway with teams of SDRF, NDRF, and local divers deployed at the site, with a 24x7 helpline set up in Ludhiana for assistance.
