The Quad grouping of India, the US, Australia, and Japan has expanded cooperation in critical minerals and energy while unveiling new measures to boost maritime surveillance and port infrastructure across the Indo-Pacific.
At a meeting in New Delhi, the grouping's foreign ministers agreed on the Indo-Pacific Maritime Surveillance Initiative, a Common Operating Picture in the maritime domain, and an expert panel on Port Infrastructure.
They also signed the QUAD Critical Minerals Framework and announced the QUAD initiative on Indo-Pacific Energy Security.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the Quad meeting decided to launch an Indo-Pacific Maritime Surveillance Cooperation Initiative and expand the Indo-Pacific Maritime Domain Awareness Initiative among the QUAD nations.
Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said the Quad recognised efforts towards a diplomatic resolution to ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and will work together to strengthen cooperation against scam centres in Southeast Asia.
