Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has attributed the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) crushing defeat in the 2025 Delhi assembly elections to the controversy over Arvind Kejriwal's official residence, dubbed the 'Sheesh Mahal.'
Chadha, who recently joined the BJP, claimed the row eroded the moral credibility the AAP had built over a decade.
He argued that the controversy, which involved lavish renovations at Kejriwal's official bungalow, badly damaged the AAP's image.
The BJP had used the 'Sheesh Mahal' controversy as a potent symbol of their campaign ahead of the 2025 Delhi polls.
Chadha's new party has already started allegations of a 'Sheesh Mahal 2' at a bungalow in Lodhi Estate, where Kejriwal now resides.
The AAP has dismissed the allegations as motivated BJP propaganda.
The party is facing its most serious organisational crisis in 13 years, following the defection of seven Rajya Sabha MPs.
