Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi recently met with students from Delhi University's Gargi College to discuss various issues, including the ABVP row and the women's reservation bill.
During the conversation, students from Gargi College recounted the recent ABVP row, in which members allegedly forced entry into their campus, breaking the gate and tearing shirts. The students stated that despite the presence of police personnel, they were not stopped by the authorities.
The incident occurred on April 17, linked to the student council elections, during which a contesting candidate allegedly contacted the DUSU president, claiming the process was unfair. The students stated that Gargi College does not encourage 'canvassing' and 'campaigning' and does not have affiliations with any political party.
The students also discussed the recent women's reservation amendment bill, which failed to pass the test in Parliament. Rahul questioned the timing and nature of the Bill, calling it 'dangerous' and stating that it is actually a delimitation bill aimed at settling southern, north-eastern states, and the main northern seats.
Rahul shared a video of his conversation with the students, saying, 'Gen Z is our future.' 'Gen Z women will lead the way. It is our duty to open every door for them...The future of our country is in safe hands.'
