Rajya Sabha elections 2026 are underway to fill 37 seats across ten states. Biju Janata Dal (BJD) chief Naveen Patnaik has alleged irregularities during voting, claiming that a legislator was issued a second ballot paper despite making an error.
In Bihar, a total of 176 MLAs from NDA have voted so far, while 37 from Mahagathbandhan have cast their votes. The counting will take place after the conclusion of voting at 5 pm.
Ahead of the elections, some Congress MPs from Haryana were shifted to Kasauli in Himachal Pradesh to prevent cross voting.
The term of 37 members from various states will conclude in April, vacating the seats for new members to be elected. Out of these, 26 candidates have already secured victory unopposed.
Notable names among the winners include Sharad Pawar, Abhishek Singhvi, Tiruchi Siva, and Vinod Tawade. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha and promised to continue working with the people of Bihar.
