A 22-year-old woman was brutally raped and murdered by her former domestic help, Rahul Meena, at her residence in south Delhi's Kailash Hills on Wednesday.
Meena, 23, was earlier employed at the victim's home and knew the family's routine and security system.
According to police, Meena first allegedly raped a friend's wife in Rajasthan's Alwar on Tuesday night.
He then fled the area, sold a mobile phone for ₹10,000, and hired a van, promising ₹6,000 to the driver.
CCTV footage shows Meena entering the residential complex around 6:30 am and the house shortly after.
He demanded money from the victim, an IIT graduate, and attacked her when she refused.
Police said Meena raped the victim while she was still unconscious and then tried to open a biometric locker using her fingerprint but failed.
He broke it open and took cash and jewellery worth ₹12 lakh before changing his blood-soaked clothes and leaving the scene.
Meena stayed inside for around 40 minutes before leaving the house and going to a hotel in Dwarka, where he was arrested the same evening.
Police said his statements have changed multiple times during questioning, and he earlier worked at the victim's house but was fired due to his habit of borrowing money and gambling debts.
