After seven AAP Rajya Sabha MPs joined the BJP, Union minister Ravneet Singh Bittu's comments about Raghav Chadha have gone viral in Punjab. Bittu had said Chadha was already doing the work he's doing, referring to Chadha's attacks on the AAP. He took jibes at Chadha's 'catwalk' and called him a 'chikna' fellow. However, after Chadha joined the BJP, Bittu clarified that he meant Chadha couldn't switch parties as he still had two years left in his RS term.

Bittu's comments underlined the complexity of the BJP's solo Punjab foray as the state votes early next year. Chadha, who was co-incharge of AAP's Punjab affairs, has already professed his love and commitment for Punjab. He shared compilations of his parliamentary speeches on Punjab-centric issues.

The BJP, which has just two MLAs in a House of 117, now has six MPs, up from zero. Union home minister Amit Shah declared that the party will contest 2027 entirely on its own, formally ending any prospect of reviving the Akali-BJP alliance.
