The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has charged a former Indian Navy captain, Raminder Singh Wadhwa, with amassing assets exceeding his known income between 2010 and 2020.

Wadhwa, who retired in May 2024, rose through the ranks from sub-lieutenant to captain, serving in sensitive positions.

The CBI alleges that Wadhwa's family's assets increased from ₹2.31 crore to ₹6.90 crore, with unexplained assets worth ₹3.18 crore.

The agency has found that Wadhwa constructed a farmhouse in Panchkula and acquired several vehicles, which were not considered in the calculation.

Once expenses such as education and maintenance are factored in, the amount of disproportionate assets is likely to increase, the FIR alleges.
