Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has weighed in on US President Donald Trump's remarks referring to India and other countries as 'hellhole'. Tharoor said India should not react strongly to the post, calling it 'unworthy of our style of diplomacy'. If he were the government of India, he would ignore it.
The comments came after Trump shared a transcript of a conservative political talk show hosted by Michael Savage, where India, China, and other nations were described as 'hellhole', alongside claims about immigrants traveling to the United States late in pregnancy to secure citizenship for their children.
India officially responded to the controversy, with the Ministry of External Affairs calling out the language used in the shared content, saying it was 'obviously uninformed, inappropriate and in poor taste'. Talks are currently underway to finalise a trade agreement between the US and India.
