DMK chief MK Stalin has hit back at Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader and Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay over his claims that the state's finances have been depleted, leaving a debt of ₹10 lakh crore.

Stalin welcomed Vijay's slew of announcements but asked him not to claim that the government has no money, saying that funds are available but what's needed is the heart and administrative capability to serve the people.

Stalin recalled that his party had implemented numerous public welfare schemes despite facing challenges, including Covid-19 and floods, and pointed out that the DMK government had explained the financial status in the interim budget presented in February 2026.

He asked Vijay not to deceive and divert the people who voted for him and to learn the nuances of fulfilling promises given to the people.
