The Supreme Court has upheld the conviction of a man who killed his wife by setting her ablaze in 2000. The top court found no reason to disbelieve the victim's dying declaration, which implicated her husband in the crime.

The court relied heavily on the testimony of the couple's eldest daughter, who witnessed the incident and provided crucial evidence against her father.

The bench dismissed the man's appeal, saying there was no material to suggest that his daughter would falsely implicate him.

The court also referred to the statements of two doctors who examined the victim, which showed that she was in a conscious state when she made her dying declaration.

The bench noted that the trial court had acquitted the man on slight discrepancies in the statements of some witnesses, but the Supreme Court found these discrepancies to be insignificant.

The man has been directed to surrender to undergo the remaining part of his life sentence.
