West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has directed the police to hand over Bangladeshi infiltrators to the Border Security Force (BSF) for deportation, instead of producing them in court. This decision comes after a new rule was implemented in the state, which prohibits the production of infiltrators in court.

Adhikari stated that instructions have been issued to the police commissioner and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to hand over the infiltrators directly to the BSF personnel at the border outposts. The CM also announced that a weekly report on the number of detainees would be submitted to the Chief Minister's Office through the DGP.

The new rule is part of the 'detect, delete and deport' framework, which aims to provide a modern and tech-driven system for immigration, registration, surveillance, detention, and deportation in India. The Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, passed by Parliament in April last year, is the basis for this policy shift.

Adhikari also reviewed civic infrastructure and development-related issues concerning Howrah city during the administrative meeting. He expressed hope that the delimitation exercise of wards under the civic bodies of Howrah and adjacent Bally would be completed by December this year.
