Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has ordered the closure of 717 liquor shops located within 500 meters of places of worship, educational institutions, and bus stations. The order aims to promote public welfare and is to be executed within two weeks.
The decision comes just two days after Vijay took oath as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, following a promise in his party's manifesto to make the state drug-free.
Out of the 717 liquor shops, 276 are near places of worship, 186 near educational institutions, and 255 near bus stations.
