Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has criticized the Centre for using the women's reservation as a political tool before the delimitation exercise. Stalin said the Union government is not genuinely concerned about implementing reservations for women and is instead using it to tackle opposition.

He added that the women's reservation must be implemented immediately without showing delimitation as a reason. Stalin expressed apprehensions over the proposed delimitation exercise and attacked his rival, AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami, for being silent on the issue.

The DMK president recalled the party's efforts to raise the issue of population-based delimitation, including convening an all-party meeting and a meeting of CMs under the Joint Action Committee. He urged the union government to not punish states that have successfully implemented population control programmes.

Stalin accused Palaniswami of seeking votes for the entry of the BJP through the backdoor and betraying the people of Tamil Nadu.
