Two Congress legislators were inducted into Tamil Nadu chief minister C Joseph Vijay-led council of ministers, marking the party's first involvement in the government in 59 years.
The induction of 23 ministers, including four new ministries, was announced on Thursday, with Congress MLAs S Rajesh Kumar and P Viswanathan taking the oath as ministers.
The addition of S Kamali, K Jegadeshwari, and C Vijayalakshmi brought the number of women ministers in the state to four, with K Jegadeshwari designated as the social welfare and women empowerment minister.
The fresh inductions increased the number of ministers in Vijay's government to 33, with 11 legislators under the age of 40 and six belonging to the Scheduled Caste community.
