The Election Commission of India has begun counting votes for the 234 Tamil Nadu Assembly constituencies, with results pouring in throughout the day.

The DMK-Congress alliance, led by Chief Minister MK Stalin, is vying to retain power, while the AIADMK-BJP camp is aiming to take control of the state.

Actor-turned-politician Vijay's party, TVK, is making a remarkable debut in the contest.

The magic number to form a government in the state is 118, out of 234 total seats.

As of now, the results are as follows:

Nanguneri: Reddiar Pattih V. Narayanan (TVK) leads with 28250 votes, while the nearest rival is trailing.

Padmanabhapuram: Krishna Kumar S (TVK) is in the lead with 12027 votes, ahead of the nearest contender.

Palayamkottai: Syed Sultan Samsudeen (AIADMK) is leading with 6601 votes, while the nearest rival trails.

Vilavancode: Michael Kumar K (TVK) is in the lead with 8629 votes, ahead of the nearest contender.
